E3's transmission experience encompasses the entire project life cycle of new and existing transmission lines, including planning, pre-finance, finance, construction, performance testing, and operations and maintenance phases. E3 personnel have 35 years average of experience in generation and transmission planning for utilities, control area design, system operations experience, and consulting for international clients and cogeneration assignments. We have completed over 25 transmission consulting assignments, which have included more than 1,500 miles of new transmission projects ranging from less than one mile to more than 350 miles.
We have worked on elevated, buried, and submerged lines with voltage ratings below and above 500kV, and AC/DC transmission and conversion. Our assignments have ranged from those involving the analysis of a client's entire transmission network to those associated with the planning, design, construction, operation, reliability and economics of a transmission system. E3 has also assisted our clients on more than 2,000 miles of transmission line corridor environmental permitting.
Sharyland CREZ Transmission Project–E3 served as the independent engineer to the lenders for the Sharyland Competitive Renewable Energy Zone (CREZ) Transmission Project. The five transmission line segments total 428 circuit miles over 295 miles of ROW. E3 is currently monitoring the construction of the transmission facilities on behalf of project lenders. This Project was named the Best Non-Renewable Deal, 2011, Power Intelligence.
Michigan Electric Transmission Company–A multi-national investment bank selected E3 for analysis and support of several aspects of the acquisition of the Michigan Electric Transmission Company, a power transmission system serving a large part of Michigan. E3 prepared a due diligence report on METC’s current and projected operations by assessing the physical condition of the assets; reviewing operations and maintenance plans, budgets, and capital expenditures; reviewing eight key operating agreements, and reviewing the METC financial pro forma and tariff. E3 prepared an independent engineer’s report used to support the issuance of senior secured notes by METC and the project’s holding company.
