Wind Power

E3 has the experience to make your wind project a success.

E3 has reviewed the development, construction, and operation of wind farms ranging in size from less than 10 MWs to portfolios of more than 900 MWs. We have worked with the major turbine manufacturers and understand what makes a wind project both technical viable and financially feasible.

Terra-Gen Wind Finance Company Portfolio

California, Colorado, Minnesota, Texas, and Wyoming
Services: Useful Life Analysis

E3 served as the independent engineer on behalf of a portfolio of 18 wind farms totaling nearly 500 MW, located in California, Colorado, Minnesota, Texas, and Wyoming. The fleet consisted of more than 1,300 turbines with wide range of capacities, brought into service over a period of twenty years, and manufactured during an era of industry consolidation. E3 provided opinions regarding the useful life, operations and maintenance, management, energy, and financial projections of the portfolio. The wind farms are currently owned and operated by affiliates of Terra-Gen Power. E3 prepared an independent engineering report used to support the company’s refinancing of the portfolio.

Fire Island Wind

Alaska
Services: Greenfield Development, Challenging Construction Conditions

E3 supported the construction and term-loan financing for the 24 MW wind farm located on an island near Anchorage, Alaska. The Project included oversight of the 15-mile, 34.5 kV double circuit line from Fire Island to Anchorage with three miles subsea, one mile overhead and 11 mile underground. E3’s services included a review of technology, status of land acquisition and permitting, construction contracts, construction costs and schedule, logistics, the wind resource study and production estimates, O&M costs, and interconnection requirements.

Confidential Wind Portfolio Resource Evaluation

Upstate NY
Services: Portfolio Optimization

E3 was engaged by project lenders to conduct an independent assessment of the wind resource and historical performance of three existing wind farms. The three facilities had been significantly underperforming compared to pro forma projections. E3 teamed with partners to provide a new long-term wind resource projection and evaluate the causes and possible solutions of generating and reliability shortfalls.
